Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

A Puggle is a hybrid breed. That means a purebred beagle and a purebred pug are the parents. Puggles are considered a designer breed. Puggles are a very energetic dog. He usually has short legs, thick body and a wrinkled nose. His hair is short usually fawn, tan or black, although they can have markings of a beagle too. His ears droop and his tail curls. A Puggle usually weighs between 15-20 lbs and is only about 10-15 inches tall.

Puggles were designed in 1980. Over the next 20 years, the Puggle gained popularity and is now one of the most sought after breeds. Puggles are very easy to care for. Their short coat needs to be brushed no less than once a week and only needs a bath monthly or when needed to avoid dry, irritated skin. Puggles do well in a home with a yard, but also can adapt in apartment living if exercised daily. Puggles are very social and enjoy children, other pets and thrives on interaction with his human companion. Seniors will find a Puggle a wonderful and rewarding companion.

Puggles are sweet-tempered, playful and affectionate. More than likely you will fall in love with your Puggle right away and he or she will return the affection. Puggles are very intelligent and can be trained without too much difficulty. Repetition and rewards are the best tactic when potty training. Because they are part beagle, the Puggle has a great sense of smell. He is very curious and loves to find new places to go.

If you are undecided in what type of puppy would be the best to bring home consider a Puggle. This breed should be on the tip of your list when looking for a new family pet.

What is a Morkie?

Morkie Puppy: MonaMy name is Mona. I am a Morkie. My parents are Registered, purebred Yorkshire Terrier (Yorkie) and Maltese. In this case, my mom is a Yorkie and my dad is a Maltese. Both of my parents are AKC registered, but I am not. I have other names also like Malkie and Yorktese, but I prefer to be called a Morkie. I am what they call a hybrid or a designer mix! That is so cool!!

Morkies are becoming very popular. It is because of our beautiful hair coats, small size and coloring… and because we love people. We are very affectionate and outgoing. I personally have not met a human I did not like, but I have not met that many yet. Let’ s see… there is my owner or breeder, you know the person that takes care of me. Then there was the vet… I met him when I was 5 weeks old. He pushed on my legs, listened to my heart, and said that I was healthy. I have to have regular shots and medicine to keep me that way. I will have to go back and see him again before I can go to my new family. Oh and that really nice person who took my picture…I just love being in the center of it all. My pictures came out really well. You should see my pictures and other Morkie puppies me on Pet Connect.

I have also met the kids who are at my owner’s house every day. They are a lot of fun! They love on me, hold me, and scratch my tummy; what more can a puppy ask for? I get along with other pets too. I have been told that I am really smart and that I can be potty trained with some consistency (whatever that means). I also am hypoallergenic and have a nonshedding hair coat. That means that if you have allergies I might just be the perfect puppy for you. By the way, I liked to be groomed just like you. A nice bath and haircut is just what I need to be stylish and healthy.

So if you are thinking about bring a new puppy into your home give a Morkie some thought. We will do our best to bring some fun, energy and a little bit more love into your lives.
