What is a Morkie?

My name is Mona. I am a Morkie. My parents are Registered, purebred Yorkshire Terrier (Yorkie) and Maltese. In this case, my mom is a Yorkie and my dad is a Maltese. Both of my parents are AKC registered, but I am not. I have other names also like Malkie and Yorktese, but I prefer to be called a Morkie. I am what they call a hybrid or a designer mix! That is so cool!!
Morkies are becoming very popular. It is because of our beautiful hair coats, small size and coloring… and because we love people. We are very affectionate and outgoing. I personally have not met a human I did not like, but I have not met that many yet. Let’ s see… there is my owner or breeder, you know the person that takes care of me. Then there was the vet… I met him when I was 5 weeks old. He pushed on my legs, listened to my heart, and said that I was healthy. I have to have regular shots and medicine to keep me that way. I will have to go back and see him again before I can go to my new family. Oh and that really nice person who took my picture…I just love being in the center of it all. I have also met the kids who are at my owner’s house every day. They are a lot of fun! They love on me, hold me, and scratch my tummy; what more can a puppy ask for? I get along with other pets too. I have been told that I am really smart and that I can be potty trained with some consistency (whatever that means). I also am hypoallergenic and have a nonshedding hair coat. That means that if you have allergies I might just be the perfect puppy for you. By the way, I liked to be groomed just like you. A nice bath and haircut is just what I need to be stylish and healthy.
