Man dies trying to rescue puppy
A 21-year-old Salt Lake County man died Saturday about noon when he jumped into a creek to rescue his puppy and tumbled 120 feet down a waterfall. The man and three of his friends were hiking Dry Creek Trail in the Lone Peak Wilderness area near Alpine when he jumped into the creek - between 4 and 6 inches deep - slipped and fell down Horse Tail Falls into a bed of moss-covered granite rocks, said Tom Hodgson, a sergeant in the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.
