Mobile teams to control spread of rabies among dogs
With rabies claiming seven lives in the past one week, the Manipur Veterinary and Animal Husbandry department has set up three mobile teams to monitor the situation, a senior official said today.
The teams, each consisting of a veterinary doctor and two field assistants, were deployed in interior Thoubal and Bishenpur districts and Greater Imphal areas where seven persons have died due to rabies, Director of the department Th Doren Singh said.
Unofficial reports, however, said 18 persons have died due to rabies in Thoubal, Imphal East and Imphal West districts.
